🎨 Art Journal Alchemy is Open for Registration + Bonus Class for Early Birds!

Hello Reader,

I’m so excited to share that Art Journal Alchemy is now officially open for Early Bird Registration — and as someone on the waitlist, you’re first in line! I created Art Journal Alchemy because returning to art journaling sparked a creative breakthrough for me — one filled with freedom, joy, and a restored connection to soulful art-making. I knew I had to share that magic with you!

While I rarely do live online classes, I love this one so much that I've decided to make it a shared adventure! With a mix of 3 live Zoom sessions, 15+ guided video demos, and thoughtful prompts, we’ll move through the course together — like a real class — building momentum, sharing breakthroughs, and forming connections with fellow artists around the world. You’ll have lifetime access to all the videos, but the heart of this experience is our six-week transformation: a journey that opens the door to bold expression, playful experimentation, and a style of art that’s unmistakably your own.

As a special thank-you for signing up early, you’ll also unlock exclusive access to our Early Bird Bonus Zoom Experience — the Creative Bloom Session on Sunday, September 7 at 1 PM EST. This live class is a joyful warm-up for the course — a chance to gather as a group, spark your imagination, and begin uncovering your own artistic magic before the official start. It’s only available to early bird students, so be sure to enroll in Art Journal Alchemy before June 1st to save your seat! Class officially begins on September 15, 2025.

With love and excitement,
Cathy

Dear Reader I want to begin by thanking so many of you who donated to help me rebuild my studio and recover from the losses incurred by Hurricane Helene's destruction of my River Arts District Studio. Together we have also helped The United Way of Buncombe-Asheville, Hearts and Hands in Swannanoa, Equal Plates, Aerial Rescue, RADA Artists Helene Recovery, Beloved Asheville and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. I will be donating more as rebuilding continues. Thank you with all of my heart. If you...

Hello Reader, As Spring is flowers get ready to bloom after the long winter, it's hard not to feel a surge of hope -- like beauty is just around the corner. My daughter has been planting zinnias in pots this year (could it be a Mother's Day gift?! ), and every day she goes outside to look at how much they've grown. Right now they are just little sprouts with their tiny double-winged, telltale leaves. But, one day soon they will burst into color and bloom -- perhaps getting their first kisses...

Hello Reader, When your mind unwinds to carefree days, do you find yourself dreaming of "A Summer Place?" I know I do, and this new painting is inspired by the soft, golden light of summer evenings tinged with a touch of romance. It is part of my ongoing Vintage Vinyl series of paintings inspired by songs from 1940-1980, and this one takes its lead from The Theme from A Summer Place by Percy Faith. I hope it brings you a bit of joy today! Available now on my website. New Painting: A Summer...
